Sometimes the simplest recipes are the ones everyone remembers.
This Whipped Honey Vanilla Fruit Dip takes only a few minutes to mix together, but somehow it makes a platter of fresh fruit feel a little more special.
Greek yogurt keeps the dip fresh and tangy, mascarpone gives it a wonderfully creamy texture, and honey and vanilla add just enough sweetness without turning it into frosting disguised as fruit dip.
A tiny bit of fresh lemon zest is the finishing touch.
It doesn’t make the dip taste lemony. It just wakes up the vanilla and honey and keeps everything from tasting too heavy.
I first served this to friends and family over the Fourth of July with a big platter of fresh fruit.
It disappeared quickly.
People kept coming back for another strawberry, another grape, another little swipe of dip.
Those are usually the recipes I remember most. Nothing complicated, nothing fussy, just something simple that everybody genuinely wants to keep eating.
It’s also an easy recipe to make ahead, which makes it especially useful for brunches, holidays, showers, parties, or any time I’m putting together a fruit platter.
And honestly, it works just as well when nobody is coming over and you simply want your afternoon strawberries to feel a little more exciting.
RECIPE AT A GLANCE
What It Is: A creamy whipped fruit dip made with Greek yogurt, mascarpone, honey, vanilla, and a touch of fresh lemon zest.
Why You’ll Love It: It takes about 10 minutes to prepare, can be made ahead, and turns a simple bowl of fruit into something special.
Flavor: Creamy, lightly tangy, softly sweet, with honey and vanilla.
Texture: Smooth, rich, and lightly whipped.
Best For: Fruit platters, brunches, holidays, showers, parties, and snacking.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Chill Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Yield: About 1½ cups, 8 servings
Diet: Gluten-free, vegetarian.

SUCCESS TIPS
- Soften the mascarpone slightly. Let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before mixing. Keep it cool, but soft enough to blend smoothly with the Greek yogurt.
- Use thick whole-milk Greek yogurt. A 5% Greek yogurt gives the dip a creamy texture without making it too loose. FAGE 5% is my favorite here.
- Don’t overmix. Beat just until smooth and lightly whipped, about 1 to 2 minutes. Overmixing mascarpone can make it grainy.
- Keep the lemon zest. A little zest brightens the honey and vanilla without making the dip taste lemony.
- Chill before serving. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes so the dip firms slightly and the flavors come together.

How It Comes Together

1. Gather your ingredients.
Measure the mascarpone, Greek yogurt, honey, vanilla, lemon zest, and kosher salt.
Let the mascarpone soften for about 15 minutes before you begin.

2. Add everything to the bowl.
Combine the softened mascarpone, Greek yogurt, honey, vanilla bean paste, lemon zest, and salt in a medium mixing bowl.

3. Beat until smooth and fluffy.
Using a hand mixer, beat on medium speed for about 1 to 2 minutes, just until the dip is smooth, creamy, and lightly whipped.
Avoid overmixing.

4. Chill.
Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
This gives the flavors time to settle in and helps the dip develop its creamy chilled texture.

5. Taste and serve.
Taste the chilled dip and add a little more honey if you’d like it sweeter.
Transfer to a serving bowl and surround it with your favorite fresh fruit.

HELPFUL NOTES
Thick Greek yogurt works best. I use FAGE 5% because its thick texture keeps the dip creamy rather than runny.
Adjust sweetness after chilling. Taste again before adding extra honey.
Keep it cold. Because this dip contains mascarpone and Greek yogurt, refrigerate until ready to serve.
FAQ
Yes.
I actually prefer making it several hours ahead so it has plenty of time to chill.
You can prepare it up to one day before serving and keep it covered in the refrigerator.
Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
If a little liquid separates during storage, give it a gentle stir before serving.
You can make a yogurt-only fruit dip, but it won’t have the same texture as this recipe.
The mascarpone is what makes this version richer, thicker, and more softly whipped.
If you want this particular result, I recommend keeping both.
Strawberries are probably my favorite, but there are plenty of good options.
Try:
strawberries
blueberries
raspberries
grapes
apple slices
pineapple
kiwi
peaches
nectarines
melon
A combination of colors and textures also makes a really pretty fruit platter.
No.
There’s only ½ teaspoon of finely grated lemon zest.
It adds brightness without turning this into a lemon fruit dip.
Absolutely.
The recipe doubles easily if you’re making a larger fruit platter for a party, shower, brunch, or holiday.
Use a larger mixing bowl so there’s plenty of room to whip the ingredients evenly.
MAKE IT WORK
Prefer maple? Substitute pure maple syrup for honey; the flavor will be different but delicious.
Make a fruit board: Arrange the dip with strawberries, grapes, apples, pineapple, kiwi, berries, and melon.
Serving a crowd? Double the recipe.
Make it seasonal: Try summer berries and stone fruit or fall apples and pears.

MEAL PREP TIP
This is an easy recipe to make earlier in the day or the night before serving. Keep the dip covered in the refrigerator and prepare the fruit separately. When it’s time to serve, transfer the dip to a bowl and arrange the fruit around it. Suddenly you look extremely organized. We don’t have to tell anybody how easy it was. 😂
STORAGE
Store the fruit dip covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. If a little liquid separates, gently stir before serving. Because it contains mascarpone and Greek yogurt, keep it chilled rather than leaving it out for extended periods.
FROM MY PANTRY
FAGE 5% Plain Greek Yogurt: Thick whole-milk yogurt gives the dip body without making it overly heavy.
BelGioioso Mascarpone: Adds the creamy, softly whipped texture; soften slightly before mixing.
Honey: A mild honey adds sweetness without overpowering the vanilla.
Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Bean Paste: Adds vanilla flavor and tiny flecks; pure vanilla extract also works.
Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt: Just a pinch balances the sweetness.

FROM MY KITCHEN
Hand mixer: Whips the dip until light and creamy without complicated equipment.
Microplane: Finely grates the lemon zest so it disappears into the dip.

This is one of those little recipes that makes something simple feel special.
I can put a bowl of this creamy honey vanilla dip in the middle of a big platter of fruit, and suddenly everyone is gathered around stealing strawberries and going back for one more bite.
That’s exactly what happened the first time I served it over the Fourth of July.
And really, that’s my favorite kind of party food.
Easy for me.
Exciting enough that everyone keeps eating it.
